Tommie Morelos / Coady PhotographySUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 19, 2010—Maria Gonzalez' Jess Dellaree scored a 1¼ length win over Sea Ola Go in route to posting the fastest qualifying time for the $65,000-added West Texas Maturity(G2) during trials contested Friday afternoon at Sunland Park Race Track & Casino. The ten finalists will return on March 6th to contest the grade 2 final at 400 yards. A 5-year-old altered son of Feature Mr Jess, Jess Dellaree, completed the 400 yard course in a swift :18.910 seconds to earn a 99 speed index. The lightly raced gelding was winning for the second time in three lifetime starts. Trained by Andres Gonzalez and ridden by Jorge Bourdieu, Jess Dellaree started twice in 2009. He broke his maiden at first asking on January 13 by one-length and then finished third by a neck in a Sunland Park Allowance event on March 13th. He did not make another appearance until today, but did post a bullet work January 19th at Sunland Park. Alonso Orozco and 21 Partnership's Sea Ola Go held on for the third fastest time with her second place finish to Jess Dellaree. The 6-year-old mare was saddled by Orozco and ridden by Oscar Hernandez to a time of :19.115. Juan Carolos Moraga's Wr Okie Smoker took the first trial in :19.038 for the second fastest clocking. Dennis Marsteller saddled the 6-year-old while Carlos Marquez was aboard. Champion sire Feature Mr Jess also sired two additional qualifiers in Featurel (4th) and Mr Jesses Corona (7th).
